  1. Is the Centurion XP Series intrinsically safe? Centurion XP Series uses the flameproof/explosion-proof protection concept and is certified for use in Zone 1 IIC T4 hazardous (explosive) areas by SIRA. Back to top
  2. What kind of flash does Centurion XP Series use? LEDs? Centurion XP Series incorporates a high intensity strobe flash, the same used in standard digital cameras. LEDs are not used as they do not provide the same level of illumination needed for zero light image capture. Back to top
  3. Can we increase the camera memory on site? No, the memory must be specified at time of order. Centurion XPG is a sealed unit that is designed to cool expanding gas if an explosion occurs. The casing cannot be opened in the field without invalidating the certification. Back to top
  4. Can we record digital video with Centurion XP Series? Yes. Centurion XP Series has onboard video capture which are stored onboard. Video files maybe view with Microsoft Windows Media Player or Apple Quicktime. Back to top
  5. How long with the XP Series battery last between each charge? Battery life depends on the level of flash usage, screen brightness picture type etc. With high brightness and constant flash use, battery life may be reduced. This can be extended significantly by adopting energy saving modes built into the camera and using the flash as needed. Back to top
  6. Can the Centurion XP series camera's compensate for flash bounce back? Yes, the EV balance feature in the camera adjusts the effective exposure of the sensor and compensate for flash return. Adjust this as necessary for your environment. See the relevant operation manual for more details. Back to top

  9. Why does my Centurion XP Series camera have no power when on/off button pressed and battery will not charge in charging station? First perform a continuity test across the fuse on the underside of the battery case with a suitable test meter, a reading of less than 10 Ohms should be found, a meter reading higher than this suggests the fuse has blown. The fuse is part of a protection circuit which is a certification requirement. The protection circuit is designed to blow the fuse in the event of battery failure or external short circuit and therefore stops the battery discharging and risking a spark. The most common reason for having to replace the fuse is if the battery pins came into contact with a conductive surface whilst not attached to the camera. (The battery cannot be removed within a hazardous area) A voltage DC check on the two pins on the bottom of the battery should show between 2.4v-2.75v Replacement fuse kits are available from our authorized distributors.
